Visit Casa del Herrero
Casa del Herrero offers docent-led tours by reservation only. Docent-led tours are available on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10 AM and 2 PM through July 2026. Beginning July 31st 2026, tours will be available on Fridays and Saturdays.
Creative Sessions in the Garden: Casa del Herrero offers self-guided access to the gardens on by reservation only. Members can make a reservation for free. These sessions are available on select dates throughout the year.
Visitor Guidelines
All tour tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
ScheduleReserved visits to the Casa run on schedule rain or shine. However, if the Casa del Herrero staff believes inclement weather poses a threat to visitor safety, they will communicate any tour cancelations via email, and admission fees will be refunded.
ChildrenNo children under the age of 10 years old are permitted on public docent-led tours. Children are welcome to join our Creative Tuesdays in the Gardens offerings.
AnimalsApart from trained service animals, domestic animals are not permitted anywhere at Casa del Herrero, and cannot be left unattended in parked vehicles. Please leave pets safely at home.
ParkingParking is very limited. Please carpool to the estate.
SafetyAll visitors are advised that there are narrow passageways, protruding architectural features and uneven walkways throughout the historic estate and gardens, and that caution must be exercised. Sensible footwear and sunhats are strongly recommended.
IllnessIndividuals experiencing cough or fever should not come to Casa del Herrero. Face coverings are strongly recommended by the Santa Barbara Public Health Department, regardless of vaccination status, but they are not mandatory for entry. Please practice social distancing.
Food & drinkOn docent-led tours please do not bring outside food or drinks apart from water. During our Creative Sessions in the Garden you are more than welcome to bring a picnic and consumables, but we ask you to observe the cleanliness of the estate and dispose of trash and recycling in appropriate bins.
(No) SmokingCasa del Herrero is a smoke-free environment. No smoking, nor vaping, of any substance is permitted.
PhotographyPhotography of the house, gardens, and workshop is permitted during tours. Use of flash is prohibited inside the house museum or workshop. Tripods are not permitted.
RiskBy entering the grounds, all visitors agree and do hereby release from liability and to indemnify and hold harmless Casa del Herrero, and any of its employees or agents representing or related to Casa del Herrero. This release is for any and all liability for personal injuries and property losses or damage occasioned by, or in connection with any activity or accommodations on Casa del Herrero property.

Casa del Herrero offers docent-led tours by reservation only. Docent-led tours are available on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10 AM and 2 PM throughout the year.
The 90-minute docent-led tour begins in the estate's original motor court; guests will enter the historic house museum and stroll the magnificently preserved interior spaces filled with original antiques, artworks and architectural features representing The Golden Age of Spain. The tour will transition into the diverse garden spaces and will conclude in George Fox Steedman's meticulously designed metalsmithing and woodworking shop.
Private & Group Tours
Private docent-led tours are available for groups of 1-24 people.The minimum cost of a private docent-led tour is $400, which allows access for 1-4 people; each additional visitor is $100 per person. Parking is extremely limited at Casa del Herrero, and carpooling is required. Larger groups that exceed seven parking spots are required to book a shuttle service.
Museums for All Admission
Casa del Herrero is a proud participant in the Museums for All Program, an initiative of the Institute for Museum and Library Services.
Through Museums for All, those receiving food assistance (SNAP benefits) can gain reduced admission of $5 to Casa del Herrero, as one of the more than 600 museums throughout the United States who are participating in this program simply by presenting their EBT card. Reserve your Creative Session in the Casa Gardens
Casa del Herrero offers self-guided access to the gardens by reservation only. Each session is 2 hours long, available on Thursdays and Sundays at 10 AM and 2 PM throughout the year.

The American Horticulture Society, Reciprocal Admission Program
Casa del Herrero museum members are automatically eligible to benefit from The American Horticulture Society’s, Reciprocal Admissions Program. This program offers reduced admission to more than 320 botanic gardens, arboreta, and conservatories worldwide.
Visitors who wish to visit Casa del Herrero through the AHS Reciprocal Admissions Program should call 805-565-5653 and book their reservation over the phone for a half price ticket.
Garden Photography Sessions

Casa del Herrero offers its garden spaces for Commercial and Non-Commercial Photography Sessions throughout the year. While there is no photography or filming permitted inside the house museum and workshop, there are nine unique exterior garden areas available.
