“Julia at the Casa” with SBCE

  • Casa del Herrero 1387 East Valley Road Montecito, CA, 93108 United States (map)

For the first time, Casa del Herrero is partnering with the Santa Barbara Culinary Experience and Julia Child Foundation to host a unique and exclusive dining experience during Taste of Santa Barbara.

may 15, 2024 | 5:30-8:30 PM

To begin the evening, guests will enjoy passed appetizers and wine while taking an abbreviated tour of the first floor of the Casa with our incredible docents and staff. Everyone will convene shortly after on the Loggia for a seated three-course dinner prepared by Chef Yesica Arredondo with wines expertly paired by Doug Margerum of Margerum Wine Company.

Our program for the evening will include a short intro to the Casa and recent improvements made to the historic house museum and gardens followed by personal stories of Julia Child's time living in Montecito and visiting the Casa from her close friend Eric W. Spivey, Chairman of the Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and Culinary Arts.

Our Julia Child Rose table centerpieces are thoughtfully donated by Rose Story Farm.

About Santa Barbara Culinary Experience

The purpose of the Santa Barbara Culinary Experience, in partnership with The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts, is to shine a light on our local culinary, hospitality, tourism, artisan, and small business communities. Through the SBCE’s partnership with the Foundation, a portion of the proceeds from the Taste of Santa Barbara is used to make grants to local organizations making a difference in Santa Barbara County’s food system.

The annual ‘Taste of Santa Barbara’ is a week-long culinary celebration inspired by Julia Child’s love and appreciation for Santa Barbara County’s food scene. Indulge in events all week and across the county as we showcase the best food and wine Santa Barbara has to offer.

About our rose sponsor

Rose Story Farm began in 1998, when its owners decided to try growing 1,000 rose bushes on a half acre of their lemon and avocado farm. They imagined an old-fashioned rose farm, with the radiant hues of European and pre-1950 American varieties in bloom across their 15-acre Carpinteria Valley farm. The mission of Rose Story Farm has been, from the very first day, to produce beautiful, fragrant, romantic roses in exquisite shapes and colors. The Hahns are dedicated to producing the highest quality roses in our gardens, and Rose Story Farm now grows 30,000 rose bushes, with over 130 varieties.
