Casa del Herrero is noted as one of the finest examples of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and in January 2009 was designated a National Historic Landmark. A Docent-led tour of the Casa provides visitors with a glimpse into Montecito life as the Steedman family lived it in the 1930s.
Our Docent training launches with an introductory orientation at the Casa, date TBD. Following the orientation, a weekly series of lectures and classes commences, each approximately 2 hours in length, featuring dynamic presentations by Casa staff, volunteers and professionals in the community.
At our traditional Steedman barbecue held in the Casa Gardens each May, we honor and celebrate our Docent Graduates and Volunteers with a festive potluck cookout.
If Architecture, Art, Tiles, Moorish Garden Design, and the history of Montecito interest you, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn more, to get an insider’s view of life circa mid-1930’s Montecito, and to become a supporter of the Casa del Herrero.
