Request Info Step back in time to the 1930’s in Montecito, California and experience the lifestyle of the Steedman family, the sole owners of this 11-acre estate for more than 75 years. Visitors have a chance to tour the home, designed in the 1920’s by acclaimed local architect George Washington Smith in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, the surrounding gardens and workshop. Tours: Casa del Herrero’s 11-acre estate is open for public tours from mid-February to mid-November. 90 minute Docent-led tours for adults and children, age 10 and above, are available Wednesdays AND Saturdays at 10 a.m. AND 2 p.m. Admission: $20. Tours for organized groups of 10 or more are available other days. Advance reservations are necessary for all tours. Casa del Herrero accepts payment at the time of booking with Visa or MasterCard. Confirmation will be mailed prior to your scheduled tour with information, a map and directions. Parking: There is limited onsite parking. Mini-vans are acceptable but large passenger buses are not permitted. Carpooling is encouraged. Guests are asked to arrive ten minutes prior to tour time. No food or beverages are allowed in the house or gardens. Photography: Hand-held cameras are acceptable. Photography is allowed in the gardens only. Smoking is not permitted on the property. Seeing Eye and trained service dogs are the only animals allowed on the Casa grounds or in parked automobiles. Directions: From Los Angeles (South): Take Highway #101 North to Montecito. Exit San Ysidro Road. Turn right and follow San Ysidro north approximately 1 mile to the stop light intersection at East Valley Road. Turn left onto East Valley. Continue about ¼ mile and turn left into our driveway. From Santa Barbara (North): Take Highway #101 South to Montecito and the San Ysidro Road exit. Turn left onto San Ysidro Road and follow it north approximately 1 mile to the stop light intersection of East Valley Road. Turn left onto East Valley.
